But which Magpies XI will be sent out to step up to the plate in north London?

United chief Steve Bruce has pulled no punches in his assessment of the 3-1 defeat at Carrow Road last time out, and has made it clear he expects his side to step things up.

It won’t be easy at Spurs of course, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men drawing at champions Manchester City last weekend.

Bruce has Joelinton available after the Brazilian striker came off against Norwich with a hip problem, while French forward Allan Saint-Maximin should return to the squad after missing Norwich with a hamstring injury.

Bruce has faced criticism of his tactics so far, with many fans and pundits pointing to the lack of chances created, and how isolated the United frontmen are.

Attacker Son missed our final Premier League fixture of last season against Everton in addition to the first two matches of the current campaign after picking up a three-game ban following his red card in the defeat to Bournemouth in May.

However, midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has sustained a minor thigh injury during training and is unavailable this weekend.

He joins Juan Foyth and Ryan Sessegnon on the sidelines. Like Sonny, defender Juan has now served his three-match suspension following his sending-off against Bournemouth last term but is continuing rehabilitation from the ankle injury he sustained in pre-season.

Tottenham will be looking for a thumping win this afternoon as they welcome Newcastle to N17 ahead of next week’s north London derby.
